Procrastination

Bah it’s freezing here. I know, I know come winter my tune will change and this will seem like a warm day. I’m cleaning my house in preparation for my Pumpkin Carving Party, which is why of course I’m blogging right now. I swept my porch earlier (brrr) and mourned over my brown and dried up flowers who are also protesting the cold. Sob I remember when it was warm sunny days (writer is conveniently forgetting the sweaty humid part of summer) and I had pretty flowers that looked like this:

And this:

And here are some more:

Actually my roses have bloomed again and are pretty still, though after today I think all the petals will fall off tonight. Hmm two of these plants are actually perennials. I guess I better a) figure out which two it is (yes even I know that the rose is one of them) and b) figure out how to winterize them. Do you winterize flowers? I know you winterize boats and lawnmowers. Hmmm…..

Sigh better get back to cleaning so my brother-in-law doesn’t pass out the second he enters my house from cat dander. Lucky for him I finished the last episodes of My name is Earl (pretty funny show btw) and I have no more Netflixs so I may actually start cleaning now.

Learning to Bow

Looking at all those BVI photos reminds me of the book I read on the way back. Normally I get airsick but I kept on the little wristbands for motion sickness and thanks goodness because I was unwilling to put down this book. It was a fun little book about an American’s perspective of Japanese culture as he’s over there teaching English to Japanese kids in the JET program during the early 90s. This was when the JET program was fairly new so people’s experiences now may be quite different but there are many things which I’m sure still apply today. He goes from amusing anecdotes about awkward situations he finds himself in to touching little insights and observations. If you have an interest in Japanese culture I highly recommend this book.

If Found Return to Paradise

Paradise

Sob I wanna go back to lounging on a sailboat being taken from one island to another with nothing to do but drink, eat, sleep, read, swim, and play all day!

Boat Drinks

And explore pirate caves!

Arggg

And watch my Dad show us how to save water by taking baths in the sea and his pink innertube:
Pink Ranger Power!

This post is perhaps a tad inspired by the fact that I had an 11 hour work day.
Heaven!

Spoiled

October 4, 2008 - 10:16 am No Comments

Yesterday was a very good day. I highly recommend everyone take a day off of work every once in awhile and just spend the day spoiling yourself. First off it’s wondrous to sleep in while everyone else has to go to work. I met up with Kristin and her mom Gloria (who kindly volunteered to be the designated driver) at noon and we did a quick supply stop at a grocery store before we were off on a pretty drive in a convertible thru the country on our way to Sugar Creek Winery . Immediately upon arriving at the winery I got bit on my forehead by a mosquito. To distract myself from imagining the huge welt on my forehead (and trying not to scratch it) I immediately applied copious amounts of wine to my system. I also ate an indecent amount of log of beef, which is delicious but that name cracks me up. We were supposed to go to another winery but were having so much fun just relaxing and enjoying nature, mosquitoes and all, that we just stayed at our first one for five hours, which gave me plenty of time to drink a whole bottle of my wine. A good day indeed.
